The Musée de Beaux-Arts et d’Archéologie is situated in the heart of Medieval Laon, a city with over 80 listed monuments. In 1937 a remarkable collection of archaeological artefacts from the Mediterranean was donated to the museum.

History & Archaeology

The Mediterranean antiquities, over 1,700 objects from the Bronze Age to the first century AD, including ancient Egyptian artefacts, were bequeathed to the museum by Paul Marguerite de la Charlonie. After the Louvre, this is the most substantial collection of ancient Greek vases, figurines and sculptures in France.
