Chedworth Roman Villa
Roman - Shrine, Villa, Mosaic Floor, Bath
The Roman Villa at Chedworth is thought to be one of the largest of its kind in Britain. During your visit you can see a number of well preserved, typical elements of a Roman villa, including a latrine, a bath house, a dining room with magnificent mosaic floors, and a shrine at a natural spring. You will also encounter many large snails, these are the very descendants of those introduced by the Romans for food.

The Villa's website displays a prominent note saying that the main mosaics are not available for viewing until 2012.
We have visited this site and found it fascinating - well worth a visit even if the mosaics are not accessible. In addition to the villa itself, the area offers wonderful walking opportunities in the nearby woods.
Now I want to go back just to see the snails!
