How To Use This Website

Welcome to our Archaeology Travel website. Here are a few pointers for using the website.

To see our list of recommended archaeological sites for France, click Archaeological Sites in the header. A map of France is shown. To see the list of archaeological sites for a region, click a region on the map or the region name in the navigation column.

How to Read a List of Sites (Site List)

The screen snap below shows part of a site list - a list of archaeological sites by country (France) and region (Normandy).

• The navigation column on the left shows the number of sites in each region. Click on a region name to see the site list for that region.
• The list of sites is shown sorted by archaeological period. Click on the site name or photo or "read more" to go to the Site Page for detailed information about the site.
• Click on the "Sites on a Map" tab to see the sites on a Google Map. Markers colored by period show the sites. Click on a marker to read about the site.

A summary for the site is presented on the Site List. The summary consists of a short description, a thumbnail photo and the following:

• Country, region, sub-region and town.
• Archaeological periods for the site, and for each period the site types.
• Number of comments for the site.

How to Read a Site Description (Site Page)

The Site Page contains all our information for a site: description, location (country, region, sub-region, town), Google Map, archaeological information, practical information about the site, link to the official website, member comments and more.

How to Add Your Comments

We welcome your comments on the archaeological sites we have listed on Archaeology Travel. Go to the Site Page and click the "Add Your Comments" link. You have to login or register, then fill out a short form with your comments. We review comments before publishing them and we send you an email when your comments are published.
